Genspark AI is a newer entrant in the AI search space that takes a distinctive approach to answering complex research queries. Rather than returning a traditional list of links or a conversational summary with citations like Perplexity, Genspark generates what it calls Sparkpages — comprehensive, structured research documents that synthesise information from multiple sources into an organised, readable format.

The Sparkpage format is designed for complex research questions where the answer requires nuance, context, and multiple perspectives. A question about a company, a technology, a scientific topic, or a current event produces a structured document with sections, summaries, relevant facts, and source links that reads more like a reference article than a search result page.

The SuperAgent feature enables deeper multi-step research by orchestrating multiple AI agents to gather and synthesise information from diverse sources before producing the final Sparkpage. For complex research that would require multiple separate searches and manual synthesis, SuperAgent automates this process.

Genspark launched in 2024 and attracted notable funding and early user adoption among knowledge workers who found its Sparkpage format more immediately useful for research tasks than traditional AI search. The platform is currently free, which has enabled rapid growth in evaluation, though monetisation is expected as the platform matures.

As a newer product, Genspark has less track record than Perplexity and fewer available reviews on its long-term accuracy and reliability. The Sparkpage format is promising but requires users to adopt a different interaction model than they are accustomed to from search engines.
